Columbia 17-Black climbed into the rarified air of the Gold Bracket at the SCVA National Qualifer in Las Vegas, NV. Playing at one of the toughest National Qualifiers, the 17-Black ladies came through again and again to fight their way towards the top of the 17-USA field. On Day One, they advanced towards their goal by winning two of three matches, and taking 2nd in their pool. On Day Two, they forced a three way tie for 2nd in their pool, and advanced by winning a dramatic single game tie-breaker to continue their magic.
Over all three days, they climbed until they reached a Quarterfinal match against #1 ranked Rancho Valley. The Columbia ladies led late in the first set, with a highly likely 17-USA Nationals bid on the line (3 of 4 semifinalists would qualify), before falling to finish 5th overall in the very elite 48 team field. Columbia's oldest team will get a second chance at their Nationals bid this weekend in Spokane. We know they will bring the bid home!
