Columbia 17-Black hits Orlando for the AAU National Championships

Columbia 17-BlackWhile Columbia 14-Black were at Disneyland winning their tournament flight championship this summer, Columbia 17-Black were in Orlando showing off their skills to the East Coast version of Mickey Mouse. The 17-Black ladies opened their run at the AAU National Championships by upsetting the 17-1 team from top club City Beach. Despite being a majority U-16 team, and probably the youngest average team in their bracket, the 17-Black girls racked up a number of victories in front of college coaches in attendance. Columbia plans to send more teams back to Orlando in the future! Team members: Kamry Breard, Megan Finley, Morgan Kline, Catelyn Linke, McKaidan Moore, Sydney Randles, Shania Scott, Leanna Shymanski, and Coach John Lengphoupraseut.

2015 AAU National ChampionshipsSome other notes - Notice in the pictures just how long the Columbia girls could stay serious when they aren't playing? (They are all determination ON the court.) Also, has anyone ever seen our Club Director and Mickey at the same time and place? (We're just pointing this out.)

Great job girls, and coach!

Columbia 14-Black ruled their summer!

2015 Columbia 14-BlackWhile many of Columbia's 2015 players were busy slugging it out for supremacy in High School Summer League this summer, the ladies of Columbia 14-Black were at Disneyland meeting Mickey Mouse. They showed that mouse what they were capable of by powering their way to the Flight 1 Championship and 25th overall in the 7th Annual Summer Soiree tournament in Anaheim.

Team members included Jenna Clark, Kennedy Conrad, Reina Deasy, Jada Doyle, Noelani Helm, Lindsey Martin, Sarah McKenna, Bobbi Newton, and Alaina Scott. Congratulations again to them and coaches Jennille Schab and Matt Helm.

After a 2-3 start, these girls swept their next seven straight matches against all comers until they claimed their Tournament Championship. That's how you show a mouse how it's done!

Congratulations to Victoria Estes and Catelyn Linke

Catelyn Linke and Victoria Estes (both from Columbia 17-Black) were both named to Prep Volleyball's list of the best 602 "varsity-playing Sophomores" in the country. Catelyn was named as High Honorable Mention and Victoria as Special Mention. This recognition is for the impact these two players had on their HS Volleyball team (both played for Pasco HS, and both had a big impact on the success last fall of their varsity squad.)
