Columbia's 2020 season began in Selah on Sunday at the Snowball. Columbia 15-Black and Columbia 16-Black both made the trip up the valley to play. Both teams were perhaps a little unlucky despite some good play (especially early.)
16-Black split their pool matches and wound up in a three-way tie for first place. Unfortunately, they dropped to 2nd on points, and then were knocked out in the first round of the Championship bracket. They finished 5th overall. Scores: defeated NCWVBC 16-2 Black 19-25, 25-10, 25-23; lost to Club Selah 16-Blue 25-18, 13-25, 16-25; lost to Club KB 16-1 Blue (score not reported). (1-2, ?-5)
15-Black opened their pool matches well, but couldn't close them out losing a pair of heartbreaking tie-breakers by 2 points each (one in extra points.) In bracket play, they couldn't get their form restarted and finished 13th overall. (They were one of only two U-15 teams in the tournament.) Scores: lost to Club KB 16-1 Blue 25-23, 18-25, 24-26; lost to Club Selah 16 Silver 25-11, 21-25, 23-25; lost to NCWVBC 16-2 Black 17-25, 12-25. (0-3, 2-6)
