Players can click here to request their jersey number for the coming season. Note: we try to protect the choice of returning players who request the same number. Players can't have the same number as another player on either the team above or below them in age to allow players to move between teams as needed. Give multiple choices!
Players who have made their picks will begin to show up on our rosters on our website, but their # may not show right away depending on how quick returning players choose as well.
U-11 will practice roughly once a week and will participate in either scrimmage games and/or the U-11 Jamboree in Spokane. This is fun, inexpensive, and lower committment way to introduce young players to volleyball.
Here's an update on a number of items:
Teams have been formed at U-13, U-14, U-15, U-16, and U-17. There are still a couple of possible openings, so if you haven't already tried out please contact Chris for more information.
Players who have already committed for U-17/18 (only) should plan to attend a workout session at 1pm on Sunday at TC Prep. Several additional prospective players will be trying out then.
Players at U-16 and younger will start practices after Sunday. (Watch our website.)
Initial fees will be due at first full practice.
Information about our U-11 Developmental program will be posted shortly.
Players will begin to do some items online (starting with jersey numbers) later today.
Also, some players who were unable to make our meeting last night because of the traffic accidents around the Tri-Cities should expect an email from Chris today. Several players who had not yet been offered a spot should hear from him today as well. (If you aren't sure where you stand, e-mail Chris.)
Columbia may still have an opening for some interested players. While we wait for several final decisions from the group offered spots on Sunday, here is what may be available:
Columbia has at least one opening for a U-15 player. Interested players and parents should bring tryout paperwork to the workout at Tri-Cities Prep HS on Sunday at 1pm.
Columbia has at least one opening for a U-17 or U-18 player. Interested players and parents should bring tryout paperwork to the workout at Tri-Cities Prep HS on Sunday at 1pm. U-17 and U-18 players who have already joined Columbia teams (and completed paperwork) will practice on Sunday at 1pm.
We expect NO Columbia teams to participate in CEVA Power League in the 2020 season. Changing weather and travel conditions make participation tougher for our teams. Check the parent meetings for updates on replacement tournaments for that part of our schedule.
Bring a copy of your USA Volleyball Membership card or tryout membership receipt to tryouts (Columbia will keep this copy) - Players must register for a yearly USA Volleyball Membership (see above, and we recommend using the tutorial. You can choose to do the tryout only membership at this time.) - (Note: Columbia won't be collecting the USAV fee as part of club fees. Players will need to pay this online.)
(For High School age players only) - Bring a copy of your most recent grade report showing your GPA. Columbia players are required to maintain a 3.0gpa or better. YOU WON'T BE ALLOWED TO TRY OUT WITH OUT A COPY OF YOUR CUMULATIVE GPA. (Columbia will keep this copy)
Come dressed to work out. You'll be working hard for the better part of two hours, but having fun as well.
Be on time (or early) for your tryout. We often have a line at check-in that can take a few minutes to clear. Check-in opens at least 30 minutes before each tryout!
Paperwork reminder: COPY of USAV Membership; Concussion Form; Medical Release Form; $10 Tryout Fee; Player Profile Form; Grade/gpa Report (High School only)
During Tryouts -
Each player will receive a player evaluation form during their Check-In for the tryout for their age-level. Columbia's coaching staff will collect these forms at the start of the tryout to use while evaluating players.
Parent Information Meeting - Parents are welcome to participate in an information meeting with our Club Director that starts shortly after the tryout begins. (We have a parent information meeting for each tryout.)
Parents are welcome to watch tryouts. (All Columbia practices and activities are always open to parents and guardians.) Seating isn't always available, but you can bring chairs as long as they don't have metal legs which might damage the gym floor.
Players may wish to bring water bottles, since water breaks at tryouts release all players at once to the four drinking fountains.
Tryouts will end on time.
After Tryouts -
Columbia will provide written offers to players invited to join teams. (Offers may happen both in person and/or online.) Procedures for accepting offers will be posted on the front of our website. Good luck everyone!
If you are offered a spot, watch our website for commitment details, uniform sizing, team meetings, and practice schedules.
